I just finished my February block for the 2018 Stach Bee. I am in Hive 5! Got this one done in a hurry!
The Queen Bee for February is Francis, @francispaul61 on IG, from the Netherlands. She has a mighty cause of making “‘Droomdekentjes’ , comfort blankets for children who are sick or who are in a not so nice place in their life.” I love being a part of a good cause and I hope the little ones who receive these blankets find happiness and dream big! This block is scrappy reds and pinks with my message for dreaming and happiness and is 16″ square…a fun and easy block to make!
I failed to mention my January block on the blog, so I will do that today. The Queen for the month of January was Cathleen, @kitchkouture on IG, (also our hive mama) and she requested a block of improv stripes. “I would like to construct a modern winter tree quilt. I was inspired by Elizabeth Hartman’s winter quilt that you can see here. https://blog.fatquartershop.com/2012/12/blogger-choice-elizabeth-hartman.html I would like to create a forest of monochromatic gray trees. I am intrigued by gray and also want to create something that will help me process the wildfires that destroyed about 3000 homes in my town this last October.” If you are not into improv, this is an easy way to practice it. My block and a suggestion for color to go with it…really a suggestion from @judemadeit on IG…and the only green I had on hand…
Seemed like green supported her thoughts on the fires and the rebirth that will come after the devastation.
Thanks goes to Diana, @reddeliciouslife, for coordinating the Stash Bee and for finding a way to get me in at the last minute!
Happy Quilting everyone! I hope you are finding your buzz in 2018!
