February Is here!

february

Typically, I love the change of seasons and enjoy living where we get that. Well, I have certainly had enough of this winter season! 2017 has brought so much snow and we are expecting up to another foot…ugh!

Well, maybe that means I should take the time to post some highlights of the year so far. Am I very disorganized, too diversified, or what? I just don’t seem to get around to blogging for the last several months.

January brought a trip I really wanted and needed…back to the Midwest to see my family! It was touch and go…missing several flights, which meant missing a family wedding (insert sad face and happy picture)…

    (the wedding we missed…beautiful love!)

but I was finally on the first flight out after several times rescheduling and got to Kansas City. What a pleasure to see my kids and grands…it had been too long since I was back!

“Absence makes the heart grow fonder” as they say, so it was good to just spend time together…no need for special events. However, grandson #1 turned 13!; basketball tournament; got to catch up with an Aunt and Uncle I had not seen for even more years; granddaughter #2 kept me in stitches; granddaughter #1 got to introduce me to her new apartment and her beau and the grandcat; short, but sweet, stop to see nieces and SIL; love and hugs with my son and daughter and DIL…all the things I needed!

We also took a drive around my childhood neighborhood. This is where I grew up…

And, likewise, it was good to get back home to the hubby! Now, it feel like life can go on as usual!

My passions and pastimes seem to carry over from last year…spirituality and quilting. I was attuned to Reiki energy last fall and have been using that for self-care and with those I am close to. Quilting, or some form part of it, has become an almost daily passion.

(unless otherwise noted, snapshots belong to Valorie Webster)

The year seems to be off to a good start for me and I hope for you, as well. Enjoy February, the month of love…we can sure use more of that!

Say Goodbye to Resolutions and Hello to Living Intentionally

These are great ideas for 2017 and resolution-making, in general! Thanks! Happy New Year everyone…make it a kind one!

Sincerity, Sarcasm, and Stuff

It’s that time again. The holiday season is winding down, and we are bracing for the long winter that lurks outside our frosty windows. Unwrapped but unopened gifts clutter various corners of our homes. Boxes and plastic storage tubs sit restlessly in our basements, longing to be reunited with fraying stockings, fragile ornaments, and dusty wreaths. Our perfect plastic trees will soon be dismantled and neatly put away until next season, which I promise will be here in the blink of an eye.

As the holiday decor is coming down, lists are being posted. Resolutions, or as I think of them, decent ideas that most people don’t really expect to follow through with. Many of us resolve to exercise vigorously (“I’m joining my local gym, which is very close-by so it will be easy for me to get up and go at 5AM every day before work.”), eat clean (“I’m…

A Quick Question

In my absence from posting to my blog regularly, I have been reading a few posts here and there. My email is full of notifications of posts by the bloggers I follow. My simple question…

Do you get email notifications on all the bloggers you follow or follow via the reader?

email or reader

I may be out of sight, but you are not out of mind! Trying to decide how to be more efficient.

Thanks!

26 Weeks Letter Challenge – F

Yep, like so many things, I am behind on this challenge. And yes, I take these things too seriously! That said…presenting the letter F.

Food is always a good place to start! Remember to eat your Fruit…

Sometimes Food and sometimes Fun, there is Fishing…

And for good advice, when you come to a Fork in the road, take it!

A Frog a Day Keeps Anxiety at Bay

Here is a good idea for getting things done!

Sincerity, Sarcasm, and Stuff

The other day I had to run an errand. It wasn’t just any day, it was a Saturday. Oh, and it wasn’t just any errand…it was going to the DMV to renew my driver’s license. Put the two together and you are basically asking for it. Believe me, I was dreading it so much that I lost a little sleep the night before, but I got up early Saturday morning because I had a frog to eat.

Eat the frog. Many people have heard the phrase, but I find that equally as many have not. If you fall in the latter category, to “eat the frog” means to get the worst thing over with so that you may enjoy the rest of the day. I first heard it years ago when I was interviewing a potential employee at work. I was quite impressed, although I didn’t…

Oh Laughter, Please Save Me

I thought this beautiful…and ti ely, as my husband dreamed I died last night!

Chasing Life and Finding Dreams

I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge.

That myth is more potent than history.

That dreams are more powerful than facts.

That hope always triumphs over experience.

That laughter is the only cure for grief.

And I believe that love is stronger than death.

~Robert Fulghum~

This quote on laughter made me think of this poem about losing someone to death.

~~

Like air, I crave you.

In my darkest of hours, you save me.

Pouring through my mind,

your melodies fill in the cracks

of my

broken

heart.

My soul weeps in loss.

I grieve so deeply,

I feel like

I am dead too.

But you sneak in,

behind my dark veil

and wet eyes

just when I am about to…

jump into a cavern

of endless grief.

You make me remember

her jokes,

her laugh,

the time she danced without a care.

I smile, even giggle.
